Efterskole is more than a school — it’s a home-away-from-home.
Students live, learn, eat, laugh, and share everyday life together.
Experience the most powerful language-learning setting possible. Danish stops being something learned from a book — it becomes something spoken at the breakfast table, in class, and during everything we do.
Efterskole students form deep bonds through shared experiences, challenges, humor, and traditions. These friendships often become the student’s first real Danish network.
At Eisbjerghus, the schedule for international and expat students is designed to combine English-taught subjects with Danish as a second language. Core subjects such as Cambridge Math, Cambridge English, and Global Perspectvies/Global Citizenship are taught in English, allowing students to stay confident in their academic learning while integrating into a Danish school environment.
The efterskole experience goes beyond English instruction. Expat students also participate in other subjects alongside Danish students. The teaching language is Danish. There is no separate expat class. This is a conscious choice, allowing students to learn the Danish school system, practice Danish in real-life situations, and build genuine friendships with Danish students.
By combining English-taught academic subjects, structured Danish lessons, and full participation in Danish classes and school life, students develop language skills, cultural understanding, and confidence in both languages.
The result: a curriculum that supports academic success in English while accelerating Danish language acquisition, giving expat students the perfect bridge to thrive socially and academically in Denmark.
Starting at a new school can be challenging, but at Eisbjerghus, students land in a welcoming and international environment. Our students are curious about the world, open-minded, and highly proficient in English.
Here, being a new student means joining a group who are engaged andmotivated to explore international perspectives. The school’s international focus—through exchange programs, globally oriented subjects, and multicultural projects—gives all our students opportunities to grow academically and socially – no matter their cultural background.
By mixing Danish and international perspectives, our students learn from each other, build bonds across cultures, and develop confidence in both academic and social settings.
Eisbjerghus is not just a school; it’s a place where newcomers can thrive, feel at home, and find their place in an international community.
